Background: Smookers followed Merrill through the high mountains at a distance for quite some time before she even realized it. She would only allow a single Pokemon from Merrill's group to approach her at a time, but once she'd kissed them all on the nose, she warmed up quickly and decided to come along. She still has problems meeting or traveling in large groups all at once, though, and likes to be introduced one-on-one first.
